Building a pool should feel exciting—not overwhelming. That’s why at Gulf Gunite Pools, we walk you through every step, keeping the process simple, transparent, and on schedule.
From the first consultation to completion, we handle the details so you can focus on what matters: enjoying your backyard vacation.
What to Expect: Our Proven Process
We usually begin construction within three weeks of signing the contract, and most pools are completed in just 6–8 weeks (weather permitting). Thanks to our skilled team and proven system, we keep things moving smoothly from start to finish.
Example Construction Timeline
Pre-Construction: Consultation & Design
We start with a home visit to measure your yard, discuss your vision, goals, and budget, and suggest the ideal pool shape and features. A free, realistic 3D design is created, with revisions until it’s perfect. We then secure all permits, prepare the site, and mark the site for excavation.
Day 1: Excavation Begins
The pool is dug and formed, shaping the foundation of your pool.
Day 2: Steel Reinforcement
We install 3/8” rebar on 10” centers to reinforce the pool structure for long-lasting durability.
Day 3: Gunite Application
After inspection, gunite, a high-strength concrete, is shot to form the solid pool shell.
Week 2: Plumbing, Tile, & Coping
Plumbing systems, including the pump and UV filter, are installed, and tile and coping are precisely added to enhance the pool’s edges.
Week 3: Deck Construction
The deck is formed with steel reinforcement and an electrical bond. After city inspection, we pour the concrete deck around your pool.
Week 4: Equipment Setup & Plastering
Pool equipment is set. Pool is plastered, filled with water, and begins circulating. The plaster requires two weeks to cure.
Week 5: Deck Finishing
An acrylic, non-skid Spray Deck topcoat is applied to the deck for safety and a polished look.
Week 6: Pool School & Swim Time
We conduct a “Pool School” on-site, teaching you how to operate and maintain your pool. Your pool is now ready for swimmers—dive in!
